Check and Send Emails from Another Gmail Account
Overview
These instructions will help you set up your Gmail account to check and send emails from another Gmail account. The instructions also cover the steps necessary to create an application specific password for Gmail accounts that have higher security.
For clarity, I will refer to your host account as the main account. I will refer to the account you wish to add to the host account the other account.
Here is a link to Google's help article that covers the same steps as below.
Step 1: Change the settings in your other account
On your computer, sign in to the other Gmail account. You might need to use an incognito window if your Chrome browser is connected to your main account by default
In the top right, click the Settings gear icon and select See all settings
Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab
In the "POP Download" section, select Enable POP for all mail
Recommended: Next to "When messages are accessed with POP," select keep Gmail's copy in the inbox
At the bottom, click Save Changes
Step 2: Change your Gmail settings
On your computer, sign in to the main Gmail account
In the top right, click the Settings gear icon and select See all settings
Click the Accounts tab
In the "Check mail from other accounts" section, click Add a mail account
Type the email address of the other account, then click Next
Select "Import emails from my other account (POP3)" and click Next. You’ll see this dialog box:

Your Username is the whole email address for the account you are importing from.
Start by using your normal password for the “import from” account.
Set the POP Server and Port as shown
Recommended: Check the box next to "Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail". Leave the other boxes unchecked
Click Add Account
If everything is set up correctly and your security settings permit the connection, you will see your other account listed in the “Check mail from other accounts” section
If you see a red “Server denied POP3 access” error message, go to the Error section below
Step 3: Sending mail from another account
If you also want to send mail from another account, please follow these steps
On your computer, sign in to the same Gmail account as Step 2
In the top right, click Settings See all settings
Click the Accounts tab
In the “Send mail as” section, select Add another email address
Enter your Name and Email address and leave Treat as an alias selected. Select Next Step.

Here is a helpful Google article on setting up app passwords.
If you see this message, click the “Show error details” link directly under the error message. You will see the details

This tells you that you need to set up an application specific password in the account you are importing from (the other account)
Go to https://myaccount.google.com/ and sign in to the other account
Select Security
-
Under "How you sign in to Google," select 2-Step Verification.
If you don’t have this option, it might be because 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account. Go ahead and set up two-step verification now
Once that is complete, you should see the 2-Step Verification section. Select it and sign in if necessary
Scroll down to the bottom, and you will see this separated section called App Password
Select it and create a preferred App name for your password, it should show something like this after clicking Create:

The App Password is the 16-character code in the bar. Copy and save this somewhere safe. You can’t retrieve it again once you close the dialog
Click Done
Go back to Step 2 above and repeat using your app password
